On My Honor by Patty Smith Hall

On My Honor by Patty Smith Hall is part of the Heroines of World War II series. Ginny was in nursing school, however, when the war broke out, she had to return home and help her mother and younger sister. Her younger sister Belle is quite the go-getter. She is a Girl Scout and is always ambitious. Ginny is her Girl Scout leader. Ginny and Belle have not had a close relationship since Ginny went to nursing school.

Enter Timothy Elliot, who is a British reporter and finds himself on a ship that was attacked. He comes ashore to the Outer Banks, and suddenly is cared for by a Girl Scout troop without their leader. Must they tell Ginny about everything they do? Is Timothy safe or the enemy? Eventually, Ginny and Timothy meet. The story that follows is intriguing and will captivate your attention. This is a wonderful historical fiction book. I found myself gripped by the storyline. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review, which I was happy to do. I highly recommend on my honor by Patti Smith Hall.

The Bible Recap Discussion Guide

The Bible Recap Discussion Guide with weekly questions for group conversations covering the entire Bible by Tara-Leigh Cobble is an excellent resource in the Bible Recap series. This guide features 52 weeks of daily Bible reading. This is a companion to the Bible Recap program. The journal is self guided. It has a daily reading plan but the discussion guide is broken down by weeks instead of days. For the first day you read Genesis 1-3. The first week covers Genesis 1-11 and Job 1-16. It follows the Bible chronologically. This book is intended for a weekly group discussion. This is mostly a discussion guide and not necessarily a place to write your answers. This discussion guide offers rich resources for those leading a group discussion, and following the Bible Recap.

This is an excellent resource to go along with the Bible recap series. I was giving a free copy from the publisher for my honest review, which I was happy to do. I highly recommend this valuable resource.

The Power for Your Day Devotional by Samuel Rodriguez

The Power for Your Day Devotional by Samuel Rodriguez features 45 days to finding more purpose and peace in your life. Each daily reading features your daily power point, your daily reading, your daily scripture, and your daily prayer starter. Scripture quotations are from a variety of translations. The devotionals are inspiring. I appreciate that this book is dedicated to “plow pushers”. In other words all those who are plowing the way for the next generation.

This book is a fantastic source of encouragement. Samual addresses a variety of people in his book. It's not simply for men, women, etc.  I appreciate the variety. This book is power packed with positive, uplifting words. I was given a free copy of this devotional to review which I was happy to do. I highly recommend. It is very inspirational and encouraging.

Targeted by Lynette Eason, Lynn, H, Blackburn, and Natalie Walters

Targeted features three romance suspense novellas by three well-known Christian romance suspense authors. These include Lynette Easton, Lynn H, Blackburn, and Natalie Walters. Each story is very short and therefore the plot escalates very quickly, sometimes a little bit unrealistic, but still enjoyable. If you’ve read any of the books by these women before you might recognize the familiar characters. I thoroughly enjoyed each story. They were entertaining and engaging. This is a fantastic novel containing three such stories. Each is gripping and intriguing with the FBI, Secret Service and CIA. I thoroughly enjoyed Targeted. I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review, which I was happy to do. I recommend!

Passages of Hope by Terry J. Haynes

Passages of Hope by Terry J Haynes is a dual timeline Christian fiction romance novel. Gracie McNeil has recently inherited a house from her grandmother in the historic neighborhood in Philadelphia. Unfortunately, there is some family jealousy that prevents Gracie from rejoicing over her inheritance. Gracie also has many heart aches from the past, including her mother dying during her birth. With a dual timeline this book switches back-and-forth between Gracie and Olivia Kingston. Olivia is a station master for the underground railroad. She does not share the details of her work with her doctor husband, Douglas. However Douglas is understanding and seems to support Olivia‘s work. It is extremely dangerous for Douglas to know of her work.

Gracie discovers a secret room in her grandmother's house. Her neighbor, a good friend of her grandmother's connects her with her grandson who is able to help with the history of the house and many of the fine details of registering the house as a historic landmark. However Gracie finds herself trying to start a business, as well as settle herself in the new area. Will Gracie be able to accomplish that? Can Olivia continue to help those passing through the underground railroad? Will they be found out? Will Douglas trust her and her work?

This dual timeline novel was a fantastic read. I found myself enthralled going back-and-forth in time. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review. I recommend Passages of Hope by Terry J Haynes.

Beneath His Silence by Hannah Linder

Beneath His Silence by Hannah Linder is that tale of Ella, who is mourning the loss of her sister. Not sure quite how to process her sister's mysterious death, Ella proceeds to her sister's estate. One problem, how will she confront her brother-in-law rumored to be the killer? Instead Ella takes on the role of governess for her nephew. However, Ella has no experience as a governess, must change her name and her role in society. She hides it well. She must now solve the mystery of her sister's death and confront her brother-in-law. But is it that simple? Is she even safe in the house?

I've recently read several books I simply cannot put down. Rather unusual for me, but Beneath His Silence was one such book. I was absolutely captivated by the story, both the romance and the mystery.  Hannah does an amazing job of weaving a tale, taking you back in history and having the reader on their toes trying to guess what will happen next. I was given a free copy from the publisher, which I was happy to do. This tale is very enjoyable! I do recommend!

The Lost Melody by Joanna Davidson Politano

The Lost Melody by Joanna Davidson Politano is an excellent story of historical fiction romance. Concert pianist, Vivienne Mourdant's father dies. Intrigued by her now poor state and no longer controlled by her father Vivienne must find out why her father is supporting a patient in an asylum. In order to do this, she disguises herself as an aide and works in the asylum. However Vivienne is quickly drawn into the asylum and suddenly finds herself as a patient. It is frightful and revealing as to what goes on in the asylum. No one will believe Vivienne's real name and her real circumstances.

I must say I was absolutely drawn into the story of The Lost Melody. There are a lot of references to music, which music fans will enjoy. However, as one who is not so educated in music, I was still able to enjoy the story. The story is a bit frightening as it dive into asylums in the Victorian era. However, I thoroughly enjoyed the story. I could not put it down. I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review which I was happy to do. I highly recommend The Lost Melody by Joanna Davidson Politano.

Dangerous Beauty by Melissa Koslin

Dangerous Beauty by Melissa Koslin is an absolute must read! However, get ready before you start to read. I read this book in two days not my normal speed. I could not put it down. Liliana, originally from Mexico, finds herself in the woods running from those who have captured her for sex trafficking. As a beautiful woman, she is highly desired and has a specific buyer. However she is able to escape her captors and run for shelter. She ends up at a gas station. The incredible tale that follows will have you thinking and questioning, all the while enjoying the story.

On the back cover it says “do not start this book and deal you have time to read it in one gulp.“ I absolutely agree with that statement. I would caution you not to start this book until you have time to read it in it’s entirety. I thoroughly enjoyed A Dangerous Beauty. I cannot recommend it enough. I will be buying this book as a gift for others. I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review which I was happy to do. I highly recommend.

Beneath the Bending Skies by Jane Kirkpatrick

Beneath the Bending Skies by Jane Kirkpatrick is the interesting tale of Mollie in her growing up years into her marriage years. Mollie has lost her mother at a young age. The bond between her and her father is strong. However her father suddenly remarries. Mollie is thrown into a whirlwind of emotions. Mollie also finds the love of her life who happens to be a friend of her father. Her protective father forbids her to marry him. Will this ever resolve? Will she ever be able to be with Peter? Can her father let her go?

Beneath the Bending skies is an interesting tale. It is set in the 1860s in the west. There is much written of the Native Americans and the occurrences in this historic time. I did find it interesting that Mollie prays to the rosary which was surprising for Christian fiction. There is some foreshadowing in the story which was rather interesting as well. I did enjoy Beneath the Bending Skies and would recommend it. I was given a copy from the publisher for my honest review.

Prayer Starters by Suzanne Eller

Prayer Starters Talking with God About Hard Times by Suzanne Eller is a well put together  journal to prompt you to record your thoughts as you journey through hard times. This book is a great resource if you are going through difficult times, or even through good times. Part one talks about trusting God in hard seasons, part two is growing in hard places, and part three is freedom in hard places. Each journal page starts with a main idea, a devotional, a prompt for journaling, and a scripture at the end.

This book is an excellent resource on encouragement. I appreciate that it features a scripture verse each day. It also encourages you to look deeply within yourself and your life. I highly recommend and appreciated the resources offered in Prayer Starters Talking with God About Hard Times by Suzanne Eller.

Daily Wisdom for Women 2023 Devotional Collection

Daily Wisdom for Women is a 2023 devotional collection. This would make a perfect gift book for the new year as well as a gift to ones self. Each day offers a short devotional that correlates with a specific date. January 1 obviously starts off with a New Beginning. Each devotional entry features a scripture verse, a short commentary about the verse and a small prayer at the end. It also has a companion read through the Bible plan at the back of the book. I love the wisdom that is shared throughout this book. This book is an excellent resource for encouragement and wisdom. I recommend Daily Wisdom for Women.

The God Shot by Tara-Leigh Cobble

The God Shot by Tara-Leigh Cobble features 100 snapshots of God's character in scripture. I love to study God’s characteristics. This small book by the very popular Tara-Leigh Cobble is an excellent resource. She shares so many attributes of God. These include God is our inheritance, God fulfills, God is patient, God grants righteousness, and God of all nations to make just a few. Each day has a scripture verse and a devotional reading. I appreciate that the scripture is included. This book is fantastic for further study of God and who He is. This is a concise but powerful book. I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review. I highly recommend the God Shot 100 Snapshots of God’s Character in Scripture.

Soul Care For the Battle by Susie Larson

Soul Care for the Battle by Susie Larson is an excellent resource. It was in originally intended as a companion book for Strong In Battle Why the Humble Will Prevail by Susie Larson. However the book is not needed to use this journal. I love that Susie for shares there are no rules to the journal. It truly is a great resource to reflect upon Scriptures and write about what the Lord is showing you.

The journal offers many prompts for you to respond to. Prompts such as things you are thankful for, healthy choices you made, precious memories, current battles, most pressing battles, the way the Lord is speaking, your laments, things that don’t belong in your brain, thoughts about God, important memories and a variety of other resources. The Clutter Fix by Shannon Acheson

I thoroughly loved The Clutter Fix by Shannon Acheson. I have read many books on decluttering. This was a very unique book as it talks about practical ways to not just declutter, but also how to organize your home. Many books will just tell you how to de-clutter and offer little hope for organizing. This book offers practical resources for you to figure out your organizing style. Shannon keeps it real in the book, by sharing her own stories, and understands the various struggles people have with clutter and organization. I found this book to be one of the most useful clutter and organizing books I have read. There are many practical resources in the book for you to work thorough your clutter or organizational styles. I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review. I am so glad I read this book. And happy to recommend it!

love, pray, listen by Mary DeMuth ~ A Must Read!

Love, Pray, Listen by Mary DeMuth, Parenting Your Wayward Adult Kids with Joy has an incorrect subtitle. It should be Parenting Your Adult Kids with Joy. This book is not just for parenting wayward adult children; it is extremely valuable for all parents. Honestly it’s one of the best books I’ve read recently and I read a lot. Mary’s insight and wisdom into launching your adult children, struggling through guilt of perfect parenting or trying to be the perfect parent, and raising your children with the hope their salvation has been inspirational and educational. Mary does an excellent job of pointing the reader towards prayer, scripture and examining oneself in parenting. She offers practical Biblical advice at the end of each chapter along with practical action steps. This book is a must read for Christian moms of children in the middle school, high school and post school years. I cannot recommend this book enough. I am extremely honored and privileged to have read it and better for it. I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review. I will be ordering several for friends. I highly recommend.

Deception by Patricia Bradley

Deception by Patricia Bradley is an excellent can’t put it down Christian romance suspense novel. An FBI agent, Madison Thorne, has been through a traumatic experience. Four years ago she was betrayed by her boyfriend and ultimately had to kill him in self-defense. She’s working on a case in her hometown. When a ranger stops her in a routine traffic stop, Clayton recognizes Madison right away, however her thoughts and feelings toward him are not cordial. In addition, Madison is close with her grandfather, however her adoption has always affected her life. Why was she adopted? Why did her birth not mother not want her? Suddenly a woman who looks just like Madison, who could be Madison‘s twin, is attacked on the same night that Madison‘s grandfather is shot. What is going on? Does this relate to her adoption? Does she actually have a twin sister?

Honestly, I could not put this book down. It was fascinating and the tale was gripping. I loved reading Patricia Bradley’s Deception. I would highly recommend this book. Except you might want to block out some time so you will have adequate time to read the novel since it is so gripping. This is the fourth book in a series however, I appreciate that you do not need to read the previous books to understand the story. It is a great stand alone novel. I was given a free copy from the publisher and I highly recommend.

The Bride of Blackfriar's Lane by Michelle Griep

The Bride of Blackfriar's Lane by Michelle Griep is the tale of Detective Jackson Forge and street smart maiden, Kit Turner. Jackson and Kit are engaged, however there starkly different backgrounds do not always mesh as well as expected. So many secrets in their past and much going on in their street lives and at times it’s difficult for them to communicate effectively. However, they are deeply in love.

Will Kit put Jackson first in her life? Will she ever overcome her street ways? Can a woman such as Kit be tamed? Does she need to be?

Although there was quite a bit of jargon in this book, I did enjoy the story. I was captivated by the twists and turns of the secrets of Kit's mother's death. This book is the second in a series and it may be helpful to read the previous book.  I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review which I was happy to do. I found this very enjoyable book. I do recommend The Bride of Blackfriar's Lane by Michelle Griep!

Escape from Amsterdam by Lauralee Bliss

Escape from Amsterdam by Lauralee Bliss is part of the Heroines of WWII series. Helen Smit is attending the university in Amsterdam just as German starts to occupy Amsterdam. Helen has recently fallen in love with Erik, who works at the local grocery store. With a Christian heart for those around them, Erik and Helen, witness the treatment of their friends, who are Jewish. They do what they can and their hearts hurt as they try to support their friends who are being persecuted. Upon graduation from the university as a teacher, Helen takes care of children. Will Helen and Erik give up everything, even their families to care for the children? Will Helen and Erik ever find the right time to marry? Can they even marry in this chaotic time?

Although I did find the book started slow, once I kept reading I did throughly enjoy the story. There is much to explore about this heavy topic and the author does a good job with balance and trying to keep with historical fiction. The story shares the journey of some trials during the German invasion of Amsterdam. I was given a free copy of the book from the publisher and did enjoy the book. I would recommend Escape from Amsterdam by Lauralee Bliss.

The Extraordinary Deaths of Mrs. Kip

In the Extraordinary Deaths of Mrs. Kip by Sara Brunsvold, reporter Aidyn Kelley, a struggling reporter seeks to find her big break. Unfortunately, not following proper procedure has really set her back. However, she is given a new assignment to write an obituary for a woman who is in hospice care. Mrs. Kip is spunky, wears track suits, and one of the most energetic women you’ll ever meet. However she is dying. This is very hard for Aidyn, a young reporter to process. Aidyn really wants the story to redeem herself. So she moves forward to interview Mrs. Kip. She completes her interview in a quick fashion without digging deep into details. However others in the nursing home and her employer know there is much more to the story. Will Aidyn figure it out? Will she be able to to discover what so special about Mrs. Kip? Will she be able to handle Mrs. Kip‘s death?

This story was definitely an interesting read. I’ve never quite read a book like this. It does go back-and-forth in time as far as a dual timeline. However the story is unraveling in a different fashion as you go back-and-forth between the two timelines. All things come together in the end and as you are reading you can’t wait for that to happen. This was a different kind of read for me but definitely an excellent book. I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review which I would happy to do. I would definitely recommend the Extraordinary Deaths of Mrs. Kip by Sara Brunsvoid.

Going Higheer with God in Prayer by A.W. Tozer

Going higher with God in Prayer by A.W. Tozer, compiled and edited by James L Snyder, is an excellent book on prayer and its challenges in the Christian life. James L Snyder, was given the rights from the A.W. Tozer estate to produce new books derived from over 400 never before published audio tapes. James Snyder is an expert, and authority on the life of A.W. Tozer.

This book is filled with excellent and challenging insight on prayer. I’m assuming the original works of A.W. Tozer, have been updated for modern day culture, however the message has not been compromised from what I can understand. Tozer explores many different facets of prayer and challenges you to think in this book. Some highlights include, pondering on the verse in Ephesians that states, in everything by prayer. I also appreciated Tozer sharing that "prayer is the greatest privilege ever granted to men". Tozer writes, "our prayer is a channel through which God accomplishes His work His way."

I was given a free copy from publisher for my honest review which I was happy to do. I was challenged and encouraged by the book, Going Higher with God in Prayer by A.W. Tozer.

Doing Church as a Team by Wayne Cordeiro

Doing Church as a Team by Wayne Cordeiro is an excellent resource on church  ministry as teams and a framework for leadership. I found this book was not only helpful for the church setting but also para church ministry.

Wayne has been pastoring for many years and recently revised and updated this book. I found the wisdom and simple insight extremely relevant and helpful. This book gives insight an overview as to a simple teamwork structure in ministry. I found myself underlining many thought-provoking ideas. This book was relevant and easy to understand.

I found this book extremely useful and would recommend not only for church leadership but lay leadership and para church ministries as well. Wayne breaks down his ideas and makes them practical.

I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review which I was happy to do. I do recommend doing church as a team by Wayne Cordeiro.

Cora doesn’t understand the community of the mountains yet she finally feels at home in some strange way. Enter Jeb and things are quickly complicated.

This story is a great tale of life in the Blue Rodge mountains. I found myself hooked on the story line and cheering Cora on despite the hardships and rejection in the community. Where the Road Bends by Rachel Fordham

Where the Road Bends by Rachel Fordham is an amazing story. I’ll start off by saying I honestly could not put this book down. I’ve read quite few books lately but this one tops them all. Nora King is left on her own in her family farm in Iowa in 1880. Her parents has both passed and she is in desperate need of funds to continue the farm. She is engaged to Jake, who will help with the finances, however this is a marriage of connivence. Suddenly she finds a man bruised and beat up on her property. She nurses him back to health but isn’t sure what to do since her intended will not be happy when he discovers she is nursing another man in her home. What will Nora do? Nora quickly realizes the man she is helping, Quincy is not the same as her intended Jake. Quincy is rather unique and the way she feels around Quincy is not how she feels around Jake.

This book was intriguing and fascinating. Twist and turns that I did not anticipate. As I said I could not put the book down. Rachel weaves the story together in such a way that keeps the reader captivated. I was given a free copy of this book for my honest review. I am delighted to recommend this book and encourage everyone to grab a copy to read. Enjoy the story!

Among the Innocent by Mary Alford

Among the Innocent by Mary Alford is the amazing romance suspense tale of Leah Miller. Leah‘s family was murdered almost 10 years ago. Leah had been seeing Jon behind her parents back. Raised in the Amish church, this was forbidden by Leah‘s family. Unfortunately Jon was not trustworthy and ended up murdering Leah‘s entire family in front of her. He promised he would one day come back for her. Dalton is the new sheriff in town. Taking over for Ellis, the late sheriff who took in Leah after her family died and raised her. Leah was no longer Amish but now a police officer. However something just isn’t right and Dalton knows too much about the case. Why is Jon back now? Who is Jon?

Simply put, I could not put this book down. I have read other Amish romance books but this seem to be a whole different genre. I thoroughly enjoyed the story. It kept me on the edge of my seat. Looking forward to many more books by this author. I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review which I was happy to do. I highly recommend Among the Innocent.

The Simplified KJV Bible

The Simplified KJV (The Trusted King James Version...Just Easier to Read) is a newer version that is easier to read. This version has minor, non-contextual updates. Barbour Publishing has taken the original King James Version and simplified it. Some instances include art become are, gavest becomes gave, updated forms of thee, thou and ye, modernizing older terms, pronouns for God are capitalized (He, His, You, Yours, Me, etc.), quotation marks are used for spoken languages, modern punctuation is used, and paragraphs are added.

The Simplified KJV is more like a book than what you may traditionally think of as a Bible layout. The book overall is smaller and easier to use. There are no longer two columns for chapters, but rather one page. Verse markings and chapter markings still remain.

Reading through the version it is simplified and seems to remain fairly true to the KJV. However from someone very familiar with a traditional Bible this will take a little adjusting to. Overall, this appears to be a welcome alternative for someone new to the Bible, or looking to read the Bible with an updated format.

As I said, the columns no longer exist so this is more like a traditional book. Red letters are still used. Pages are thin but that probably helps with size. Cover is beautiful.

I do appreciate this updated version and the ease of carrying this thinner Bible. I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review which I was happy to do. I am excited about this updated version and the ease of use of this Bible.

The Path to Peace by Ann Swindell

I thoroughly enjoyed The Path to Peace by Ann Swindell. Ann shares eight Bible characters and looks at their journey. She imagines what life what like for them which adds to the storytelling perspective. Scripture reading is suggested to go along with each day.  Ann then weaves in her own story to each character and relates a life experience to each character.

Ann offers some amazing insight. These include:

  • Ask God for peace.
  • Obedience to God leads to peace with God.
  • Ask God to remind you of his ability.
  • Know that any fear you experience is meant to strengthen you to get the help you need
  • Fear is actually a gift to us, for it can help us when we respond to it rightly
  • We must learn to trust that God is at work and his way and on his schedule and we must live our lives even as we wait on him
I throughly enjoyed the Path to Peace. I would highly recommend. I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review which I was more than happy to do!

When the Meadow Blooms by Ann H. Gabhart

When the Meadow Blooms by Ann H. Gabhart was one of the best books I have read recently and I’ve read quite a few. Rose is separated from her two daughters since she is recovering in the sanatorium from tuberculosis. Her precious daughters have been dropped off at an orphanage for far too long. The orphanage is not a pleasant experience. Rose thought she would be recovered by now. She has been estranged from her late husband’s family. Her brother-in-law, Dirk, could be her only hope. However he does not want others around due to his past hurts. Rose and her daughter, Calla, reach out for help at the same time unbeknownst to each other. Will Dirk help?

I could not put this book down! I was so drawn into the story. I think the plot and characters were amazing. I will be looking for more books by this author! I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review. I could not put the book down. I highly recommend.

Sea Glass Cottage by Irene Hannon

Sea Glass Cottage is a book that I could not put down! I loved it. Christi is desperate. Once the rich socialite, she is now down on her luck. She arrives in Hope Harbor looking for Jack, hoping he can help. Jack is her last chance. But when you realize what she has done to Jack in the past, there is no way he will help her. Jack, on the other hand, has build a successful life for himself.  He is happy to continue his life without Christi, but he realizes he still has feelings for her. Enter one of the most interesting twists and you won't be able to put the book down.

Although the plot may be a little unrealistic, I did find it very enjoyable and could not stop reading. If I had a day to curl up in bed and read all day, I'd be holding this book. I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review which I was happy to do. I highly recommend.

The Master Craftsman by Kelli Stuart

The Master Craftsman by Kelli Stuart is an excellent dual timeline historical fiction story. Join Alma Pihl, Karl Faberge and many others in the early 1900s at the House of Faberge as they create exquisite Russian eggs. The artwork is delicate and amzing.

The Spark of Love by Amanda Cabot

The Spark of Love by Amanda Cabot. I absolutely loved this book. I could not put it down. I have to say when I saw that it was book three in a series, I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to follow along. However that was definitely not a problem. Alexandra comes to the small town of Mesquite Springs in Texas in 1857. She is fleeing from her horrible suitor who only wants her inheritance. She is also trying to  find her father who she has been very distant from, especially since her mother passed. Love's Fortress by Jennifer Uhlarik

Loves Fortress by Jennifer Uhlarik is the dual timeline story of Dani Sango, who believes her father is an art forger. Unfortunately she never had a relationship with her father. This was all based on the information her family has told her throughout the years. Suddenly he passes away and she is named in his will. She must go and clean up the mess of his life and the leftover stigma of his crimes. In the meantime you are taken back in history to 1875 when the plains Indians are transported to Florida for incarceration at ancient Fort Marion. Sally Jo Harris and Luke Worthington look for unique ways to serve God in their relationship and in their circumstances.

Through twists and turns of events this dual timeline romance takes you back-and-forth throughout history. It’s always exciting to see the story come together at the end. I was given a free copy of Love’s Fortress from the publisher for my honest review which I was happy to do.

I would recommend this book.

Food Triggers by Amber Lia

In Food Triggers, Amber Lia shares her journey of exchanging unhealthy patterns for God honoring habits. Amber has struggled with her weight over the years. Her turning point was after she had her four boys. She knew she needed to do something and decided to have a  mindset change along with follow through actions. This resulted in significant weight loss, as well as a redirected life path.

Amber shares many ideas as to the why behind weight gain. I will caution you that she doesn’t explain too many of the how to concerning weight loss. Tips include: clean out the pantry and remove trigger foods, buy a cookbook that provides healthy recipes, join a health plan focused on lifestyle changes, pray over your grocery list, thank God for His good provisions. Sign up for an exercise class at the local gym. Keep a food log or journal. Notice marketing strategies that lower you toward unhealthy patterns.

Amber and her husband do have a coaching weight loss business. Many times as I was reading I was looking for actual recipes or solutions but instead it was more about the why behind weight gain and the cycle of habits. There is however, a lot of scripture included which is encouraging.

Food triggers does offer some significant insight as to your why. It is a motivating book. I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review which I was happy to do. I did enjoy Food Triggers.

A Heart Adrift

A Heart Adrift by Laura Frantz is the tale of Esmee and her former love, Henri. However, with Henri's love for the sea and a variety of circumstances, their love was not meant to be. Until...Henri has returned and crosses path with Esmee.  They both have deep concern for others but do they have concern for each other?

This story is written in the mid 1700's.  The language is reflective of that time. I did find the language a little difficult to read, but the story more than makes up for it.  You will be captivated by Henri and Esmee's relationship.

I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review, which I was happy to do.

Never Leave Me

Never Leave My by Jody Hedlund is the thrilling tale of Ellen and her longtime friend Harrison. Ellen has a short time to live due to her genetic disease. Harrison has always been a dear friend and has diligently cared for Ellen since her family has passed away and her illness is progressing. Is there more than just a friendship with Harrison? Can there be more with Ellen’s dire situation? What about the tales of time travel her late sister shared? What about her father’s laborious research concerning her genetic disease? And what about love?

I was absolutely intrigued by Never Leave Me. I did read the first book in the Waters of Time series, Come Back to Me, which I would highly recommend reading first. Both are amazing books and Never Leave Me does not disappoint. Clearly fiction but it also makes you think. I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review which I was happy to do. I recommend this delightful tale.
