Saving Mrs. Roosevelt by Candace Sue Patterson

Saving Mrs. Roosevelt by Candace Sue Paterson is the wonderful tale of Shirley Davenport. She decides to enlist in the newly formed SPARs along with her friend Joan. Her eye is caught immediately by Captain Weber. She is sent to Iowa for her training. However the Coast Guard quickly realizes her capabilities and value in a secret spy mission in her hometown. Her friend Joan has a peculiar relationship with her uncle. Shirley’s family is devastated over the loss of her brother James. Will Shirley be able to help the Coast Guard? Will she ever be able to connect with Captain Weber despite her role in the military?

This is a beautiful story in the Heroines of World War II series. I was captivated by the historical aspect as well as romantic fiction. I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review which I was happy to do. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and would recommend saving Mrs. Roosevelt.

Deadly Target by Elizabeth Goddard

Erin almost loses her life in a boating accident with her friend. Then she goes to be with her mother who tried to commit suicide. She is staying with her mother in Montana. In walks her former boyfriend, Nathan. Any time they are together trouble is following them. Who is after Nathan? Or are they after Erin? Was her mom‘s attempted suicide legitimate?

Elizabeth Goddard will have you on the edge of your seat. I’m not sure I was completely ready for all of the twists and turns in the book Deadly Target. It is definitely an interesting tale. This was a fun suspense fiction read. I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review which I was happy to do. I would recommend Deadly Target.

A Season on the Wind by Suzanne Woods Fisher

A Season On the Wind by Suzanne Woods Fisher shares the story of Ben Zook and  his love for birds, especially the elusive rare White-winged Tern. Trying to capture a photograph of the elusive tern, Ben looks to Micah to help him out. Unfortunately what Ben does not account for is being noticed in his former Amish community. Micah’s sister, Penny, spies Ben and Is thrilled to have him return. However things are not so easy in Ben’s heart.

This is the enjoyable story of an Amish romance featuring field guides of Micah’s birdwatching log. Sprinkled throughout the story are descriptions and notes from Micah’s own log. This offers an enjoyable element to the story. Readers will not want to put the book down. A Season on the Wind features a delightful Amish romance.

3-Minute Devotions to Laugh and Reflect

3-Minute Devotions to Laugh and Reflect by Christopher D Hudson and Stan Campbell is filled with beautiful comics as well as short devotionals. I appreciate that each devotional first features a scripture verse. The comic illustrations alone are worth the book. We all need a little humor in our world today.

Sometimes it’s fun just to sit back and laugh. This book not only has that element but also a short one page devotional to go along with it and make you think (and smile). Laughter and a little bit of spiritual challenge.

I was given a free copy of the book from the publisher for my honest review which I was happy to do. I appreciate the humor and fun in this delightful book.

The Whole Bible Story by Dr. William H. Marty with Troy Schmidt

The Whole Bible Story by William H. Marty with Troy Schmidt is a beautifully illustrated young reader's edition Bible recap that features an overview of the Bible. Each chapter highlights several books or passages from the Bible and describes who the characters are, the setting, and any interesting or background information contained in the chapters discussed. It gives an overview of what is featured in those passages. At the end of each chapter there is a what’s the point section to highlight the overall message of the passage.

This is a beautiful way for children to learn more about the Bible. I appreciate the added history and timelines as well as background information focusing on the Bible. This is a great resource in addition to a Bible for children who want to learn more about the Bible. Illustrations are wonderful and additional study information is extremely helpful. Adults would even find the information helpful.

Rest Girl by Jami Amerine

Rest Girl by Jami Amerine is the inspiring story of Jami’s journey from exhausted and stressed to entirely blessed. I have read Jamie‘s work before and this is told once again in her straightforward humorous style. Jamie tells it like it is and shares personally from the heart. Jami Shares many personal stories while always engaging biblical truths.

I appreciate Jami's raw honesty in the book. I think many women and especially mothers will identify with the material shared in Rest Girl. Jami keeps it real as she shares. I enjoyed and recommend Rest Girl.

A View Most Glourious

The best view comes after the hardest climb.

Wow. A View Most Glorious is a wonderful historical fiction story about Coraline Baxter who longs to have an impact on the world around here. Sadly her mother wishes for her to marry someone she had picked for her.  This crushes Coraline. As a college graduate, her hopes and dreams to impact the world are seemingly dashed. However, her involvement with a local suffragette group spurs her to new heights (pun intended).

This is the second book I have read by Regina Scott. As before, it is an enjoyable romantic story based on history.  Readers will enjoy the spiritual aspect as well as appreciate the history and some of what women have traveled through in the past.
