Dangerous Beauty by Melissa Koslin

Dangerous Beauty by Melissa Koslin is an absolute must read! However, get ready before you start to read. I read this book in two days not my normal speed. I could not put it down. Liliana, originally from Mexico, finds herself in the woods running from those who have captured her for sex trafficking. As a beautiful woman, she is highly desired and has a specific buyer. However she is able to escape her captors and run for shelter. She ends up at a gas station. The incredible tale that follows will have you thinking and questioning, all the while enjoying the story.

On the back cover it says “do not start this book and deal you have time to read it in one gulp.“ I absolutely agree with that statement. I would caution you not to start this book until you have time to read it in it’s entirety. I thoroughly enjoyed A Dangerous Beauty. I cannot recommend it enough. I will be buying this book as a gift for others. I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review which I was happy to do. I highly recommend.

Beneath the Bending Skies by Jane Kirkpatrick

Beneath the Bending Skies by Jane Kirkpatrick is the interesting tale of Mollie in her growing up years into her marriage years. Mollie has lost her mother at a young age. The bond between her and her father is strong. However her father suddenly remarries. Mollie is thrown into a whirlwind of emotions. Mollie also finds the love of her life who happens to be a friend of her father. Her protective father forbids her to marry him. Will this ever resolve? Will she ever be able to be with Peter? Can her father let her go?

Beneath the Bending skies is an interesting tale. It is set in the 1860s in the west. There is much written of the Native Americans and the occurrences in this historic time. I did find it interesting that Mollie prays to the rosary which was surprising for Christian fiction. There is some foreshadowing in the story which was rather interesting as well. I did enjoy Beneath the Bending Skies and would recommend it. I was given a copy from the publisher for my honest review.

Prayer Starters by Suzanne Eller

Prayer Starters Talking with God About Hard Times by Suzanne Eller is a well put together  journal to prompt you to record your thoughts as you journey through hard times. This book is a great resource if you are going through difficult times, or even through good times. Part one talks about trusting God in hard seasons, part two is growing in hard places, and part three is freedom in hard places. Each journal page starts with a main idea, a devotional, a prompt for journaling, and a scripture at the end.

This book is an excellent resource on encouragement. I appreciate that it features a scripture verse each day. It also encourages you to look deeply within yourself and your life. I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review which I was happy to do. I highly recommend and appreciated the resources offered in Prayer Starters Talking with God About Hard Times by Suzanne Eller.

Daily Wisdom for Women 2023 Devotional Collection

Daily Wisdom for Women is a 2023 devotional collection. This would make a perfect gift book for the new year as well as a gift to ones self. Each day offers a short devotional that correlates with a specific date. January 1 obviously starts off with a New Beginning. Each devotional entry features a scripture verse, a short commentary about the verse and a small prayer at the end. It also has a companion read through the Bible plan at the back of the book. I love the wisdom that is shared throughout this book. This book is an excellent resource for encouragement and wisdom. I appreciate that the scripture throughout the book comes from different translations. I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review which I was happy to do. I recommend Daily Wisdom for Women.

The God Shot by Tara-Leigh Cobble

The God Shot by Tara-Leigh Cobble features 100 snapshots of God's character in scripture. I love to study God’s characteristics. This small book by the very popular Tara-Leigh Cobble is an excellent resource. She shares so many attributes of God. These include God is our inheritance, God fulfills, God is patient, God grants righteousness, and God of all nations to make just a few. Each day has a scripture verse and a devotional reading. I appreciate that the scripture is included. This book is fantastic for further study of God and who He is. This is a concise but powerful book. I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review. I highly recommend the God Shot 100 Snapshots of God’s Character in Scripture.

Soul Care For the Battle by Susie Larson

Soul Care for the Battle by Susie Larson is an excellent resource. It was in originally intended as a companion book for Strong In Battle Why the Humble Will Prevail by Susie Larson. However the book is not needed to use this journal. I love that Susie for shares there are no rules to the journal. It truly is a great resource to reflect upon Scriptures and write about what the Lord is showing you.

The journal offers many prompts for you to respond to. Prompts such as things you are thankful for, healthy choices you made, precious memories, current battles, most pressing battles, the way the Lord is speaking, your laments, things that don’t belong in your brain, thoughts about God, important memories and a variety of other resources. This journal is a true treasure. I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review. I am happy to recommend this journal as well as suggest giving it as a gift and keeping one for yourself.

The Clutter Fix by Shannon Acheson

I thoroughly loved The Clutter Fix by Shannon Acheson. I have read many books on decluttering. This was a very unique book as it talks about practical ways to not just declutter, but also how to organize your home. Many books will just tell you how to de-clutter and offer little hope for organizing. This book offers practical resources for you to figure out your organizing style. Shannon keeps it real in the book, by sharing her own stories, and understands the various struggles people have with clutter and organization. I found this book to be one of the most useful clutter and organizing books I have read. There are many practical resources in the book for you to work thorough your clutter or organizational styles. I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review. I am so glad I read this book. And happy to recommend it!

love, pray, listen by Mary DeMuth ~ A Must Read!

Love, Pray, Listen by Mary DeMuth, Parenting Your Wayward Adult Kids with Joy has an incorrect subtitle. It should be Parenting Your Adult Kids with Joy. This book is not just for parenting wayward adult children; it is extremely valuable for all parents. Honestly it’s one of the best books I’ve read recently and I read a lot. Mary’s insight and wisdom into launching your adult children, struggling through guilt of perfect parenting or trying to be the perfect parent, and raising your children with the hope their salvation has been inspirational and educational. Mary does an excellent job of pointing the reader towards prayer, scripture and examining oneself in parenting. She offers practical Biblical advice at the end of each chapter along with practical action steps. This book is a must read for Christian moms of children in the middle school, high school and post school years. I cannot recommend this book enough. I am extremely honored and privileged to have read it and better for it. I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review. I will be ordering several for friends. I highly recommend.
