Undercurrent of Secrets by Rachel Scott McDaniel

Undercurrent of Secrets by Rachel Scott is a dual plot or dual timeline romance novel. Hattie Louis, a 21 year old adopted child, spends her time on a steamboat where her adoptive father is captain. She is an entertainer among other roles. When first mate Jack Marshall suddenly comes on board she is intrigued as well as occupied with trying to figure out what his role is. Fast forward quite a few years and Devyn Asbury is a wedding coordinator and event planner on the aforementioned steamboat. After being jilted by her rude former fiancĂ©, Devyn is not looking for a relationship anytime soon. However her paths cross with Chase Jones and a mysterious photo from the 1920s somehow related to the steamboat. I have to be honest that it is a little difficult to go back-and-forth between the two timelines in Undercurrent of Secrets, however once you further in the story it is a fascinating read. Rachel Scott McDonald’s weaves historical and modern day fiction together in the novel from the Doors to the Past series. I enjoyed Undercurrent of Secrets. I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review which I was happy to do. I would recommend the book.
